Lila Lily

BIOGRAPHY

Lila Lily aka Lindie Lila is an independent singer-songwriter and music producer from Durban, South Africa

In 2007 Lila was assigned to compose a title song for a Goddess Festival in Cape
Town, South Africa. She composed “Mama Gaia”, a beautiful song dedicated to Mother
Nature and along with it she created her album Return of the Goddess, which included
the very well known song(chant) “We all come from the Goddess” written by
Zsuszanna Budapest, a world-renowned Hungarian book author, and songwriter.

In 2014, The Magick Jukebox's 30 best Pagan Albums project, including her album
“Return of the Goddess”, this album reached #4 and was awarded as one of top 5
albums in this genre in the world. Being an environmental activist it reflects in her music.

Her music is hauntingly beautiful and genuinely comes from the heart. When
asked what she sounds like her fans mention; Enya, Sarah Brightman, and Tori
Amos, however, it is challenging to find a sound-alike for Lila. Her voice and
songs are truly unique, creative and ethereal.

Lila has 8 albums showcasing her discography and her songs are available worldwide, on all online stream platforms. To name a few of her albums; “Sisters of the Moon, Ancestors, Mermaid Magic, Aphrodite, and Lila Lily Instrumentals”.

In Studio Lila collaborated with very talented musicians like Ronan Skillen
(percussion and didgeridoo), jazz virtuoso Amanda Tiffin (arrangements and
backing vocals), Chris Tokalon (flute, sax, and hung drum) and Gionni Di
Clemente (oud & 10 String guitar) as well as Dingiswayo Juma (Mbira & Jembe).

In 2008, she teamed up with Congolese singer-songwriter Jason Tamba, and they
toured South Africa with a multicultural show titled Bayembi Spirit, which was
well received. Jason now works for Playing for Change.

She often receives personal messages from her fans on how her music benefits
them on many levels, one of the most recent ones, was a letter written to Lila by a
prisoner in Canada, of how her music has changed his life.

Her music is truly touching and she receives testimonies often. Lila is a well-traveled artist. She has traveled worldwide, including the African continent
to get inspiration for her music, this includes Egypt where she once performed
on the Nile River, Tanzania, Swaziland, Mozambique, Namibia as well as Canada,
USA, Europe and more.

Lila is also an internationally trained Egyptian belly dancer and practiced this art-form
for almost 20 years, this is where she got her influence of world instruments in her
songs.

She is currently writing new songs and exploring new genres, for her next
album which will also include songs from her native tongue. Always writing a new
song..she is a true artist at heart.
