May We Direct Your Attention to the Board...

Congratulations to new WAM Board Chair, Dr. Josina Reddy!Dr. Reddy is Vice President and Global Head, LASR (Lung, Skin, Agnostic, Rare cancers), Product Development Oncology Hematology at Genentech. An amateur musician, mother, and advocate for STEM education and career development for women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals, Dr. Reddy is inspired by WAM's mission of "changing the face of sound" and is proud to serve as WAM's newest Board Chair."As a scientist and researcher who had a supportive family, environment and community to help me along the way, I am dedicated to giving back – especially to women, girls, and gender expansive people – and supporting diversity in the world of STEM learning and careers. In addition to my work at Genentech, I play guitar in a rock band, so all of the work that WAM does resonates with me. I look forward to supporting WAM in my new role as chair of the board."Dr. Reddy succeeds board chair Maggie Law, Senior Director of Product Design at Okta and Bay Area musician. Maggie Law has been an unwavering supporter of WAM since its beginning, and a proud advocate for our work in the community. She has led WAM's board for more than seven years, and supported the board in its efforts to develop strong members who are committed to WAM's mission. WAM is grateful to Maggie Law, Josina Reddy, and all of our board members for their ongoing support of our work. Your guidance is invaluable and we're looking forward to our work together in 2022!

Thank you, National Endowment for the Arts!

WAM is thrilled to share that this week, we were awarded an American Rescue Plan grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. This support will be a key component of the funding for our creative programming serving our growing community. WAM is able to make its youth programming free because of the generous support from funders like the NEA, private foundations and corporations, and contributions from individuals like you! Thank you to the NEA and our colleagues across the country who served as application reviewers for your confidence in our work!
We're excited to get to work in 2022, and thank you for helping WAM to change the face of sound.- WAM Team
