FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LEO IRSARA HAS A FLOWER FOR A MOUNTAIN SAILOR
His first English composed debut, A Flower for a Mountain Sailor, is Leo Irsara's latest offering showcasing his unique stylistic mix of American folk and British pop.
"My music seems a little bit between brit pop and American folk songs." - Leo Irsara
(San Cassiano-Bolzano-Italy) September 7th, 2018 - Leo Irsara is no stranger to music, having been trained in piano and in his church choir in his youth, in Brunico, Italy, his musical foundation was firm. However, it was only recently, that he has had the time to dedicate to his own songwriting and artistry.
He explains, "I restarted playing and songwriter around the age of thirty-two with a classic rock band named Burnout, for about five years." However, by the time he was forty, his first love of music had forced him into the studio to experiment with instruments and sound. It was that experience that gave birth to A Flower for a Mountain Sailor.
In creating his debut album, Leo experimenting in his home studio, as his own engineer, producer, and mixer. He utilized his skills as a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, as he explains, "Over my lifetime I taught myself how to play bass, guitar, and even hones my vocals." His musical influences are varied and come thru in the album, ranging from American and British pop music all the way to American folk songs. To make matters even more complex and difficult for Leo, he decided his debut would be in English, not his native language, obviously.
Flower for a Mountain Sailor is a concept album, which thematically focuses on man versus nature. The collection of songs follows a storyline of the man, having made many mistakes in his life is released and set free of prison. He then begins to travel in seek of peace and serenity - traveling through the clouds, (metaphorically mountains.) Among the tracks on the project, he comes upon a beautiful flower, which symbolizes a woman.
In the end, the album tells a story of each man's chance at redemption, and it does so through Leo Irsara's own musical gift of soundscape and imagery. There's no one track that stands out, all ten tracks are inclusive, intertangled, and must be listened to as to let the let Leo's vivid story unfold. It's one of forgiveness, of grace and of beauty. If you see a Flower for a Mountain Sailor, you should pick one for yourself! The album is available on all digital outlets including iTunes, Deezer, and as well on YouTube. Works as a medical Assistant Providence Hospital US Navy Veteran. Native American New Mexico Apache Started Quote Book on google plus with over 12 million views. when not working I love to hike camp hunt fish. I walk the red road and believe we are all connected threw Mother Earth and the Creator. Hozhoogo Naashaadoo (walk in beauty) Handmade Flutes by Bill F Kelso BIRTH OF A SONG
Call on Sunrise was a spiritual journey not just into my heritage and music, but one of the soul. The first song, for which the album was named, first came to me on New Years Day 2015.
I had just come from the hospital where my father lay in bed unable to speak after having a heart attack. I held his hand and prayed. On the way home I was exhausted and overcome with grief. I pulled the jeep over, and I broke down from all of the emotions I was feeling. I noticed a beautiful Sunrise.
I gave thanks for the new day and a new year. I then picked up my flute and played as I meditated. I played from my heart, I played from my soul, I played for my father and the Creator. Later that day, back at the hospital, my father was awake. I told him I had been playing my flute for him. He smiled, held my hand and whispered: “I heard you playing, I love you”.
This made me realize how everything is connected. These events, as well as my love for my heritage, culture and the wind flute, inspired my cd Thank you for listening to Johnny No Feather
