Re: Alternative Radio: Failed System

We live in an era of where the 1% is raking it in. We have dog whistle politics, bullying and disdain for science and facts. Some coming. For example, Neil Postman is his classic work Amusing Ourselves to Death nailed it when he wrote, “When a population becomes distracted by trivia, when cultural life is redefined as a perpetual round of entertainments, when serious public conversation becomes a form of baby-talk, when, in short, a people become an audience, and their public business a vaudeville act, then a nation finds itself at risk; culture-death is a clear possibility.” He wrote that in 1985. Our political life today is like a reality TV show. There is fascination with celebrities from Kanye West to the Kardashians to the former host of The Apprentice. And the soundtrack in the background is permanent war.

New show by ABSTRAKT SOUNDZ

ABSTRAKT SOUNDZ //|\\ VOL 46| Powered by Nippon Groove & Happy End Records | 2018

Abstrakt Soundz is back. Its been a while. I promise to provide more content in 2019. As an artist its important to share my music with the world. But I do hope that people who listen to it appreciate the effort. As much as I like Mixcloud. I do feel that with all the free promotion I am giving to other artists. The dj or whatever you want to call it is not yet rewarded. I believe Mixcloud is an excellent platform and there are plans for creators to be rewarded in the near future. We all got to support each other. In the meantime please enjoy this line up of artists that I have selected. As usual I am inspired by music I encounter along my travels around the world. Recently found some interesting music in Thailand, Taiwan, Japan and USA. Working on a new project of City Pop only. Stay tuned. Follow me on instagram...

PEACE

Oliver Sean

Oliver Sean hits No.1 on iTunes Top 100 Singles Charts.

Walk up and Kiss you, from Oliver Sean's award-winning Devil in Blue Jeans album has hit No.1 on the iTunes Top 100 Singles Charts in Turkey. And the album went on to hit No.2 on the Album Rock Charts in Mexico.

WOA International - 29, Nov 2018 - Walk up and Kiss you, from Oliver Sean's award winning album 'Devil in Blue Jeans' has hit No.1 on the iTunes Top 100 singles charts in Turkey. This soon followed with the full Album hitting No.2 on the iTunes Rock Album Charts in Mexico. The Walk up and Kiss single reached No.1 (Top 100) in Turkey on the 22nd of November followed by Oliver’s hit single from last year ‘New York’ hitting No.1 on the Rock Singles Charts in Turkey 48 hours later.  The singer’s album Devil in Blue Jeans was supported extensively by fans through the week and finally hit the Top 10 at No.2 on the iTunes Album Charts (Rock Genre) in Mexico on 29th November  2018.

Walk up and Kiss you is the 3rd single from Oliver Sean's 2017 rock album 'Devil in Blue Jeans'. The album has won several awards in America and has also had two previous singles/music videos, namely New York and First Move, which hit the Vh1 International hit list,  the Homegrown platform on International music channel 9XO in India, a special feature on RTP International which is Portugal's national television network and also won best music video in Los Angeles in August this year. Walk up ad Kiss you was first heard on BBC Radio in the UK last year where the song was picked up even before its official launch as a single and Oliver was called "unprecedented for an Independent Artist" by the BBC Radio personality hosting the radio show in the UK. The single went on to be selected by NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) for the 61st Grammy Awards' First Round Nomination Ballots in Best American Roots Song and Best American Roots Performance categories.

"I am just stunned! I knew that my song was getting a lot of support on Instagram, Spotify and Soundcloud from music lovers worldwide but I never expected my song to hit No.1 on the iTunes top 100 singles charts in Turkey or the top 10 album Charts in Mexico," says the MTV EMA Nominated Indie star Oliver Sean, "and on a personal note being No.1 on the rock charts with Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen is such an honour."

In the past Oliver Sean has received various accolades for his music including an MTV EMA Nomination, a Vh1 Top 10 and various other major music spotlights. Being an Independent artist and one of the original DIY artists to have broken through into the major music scene, this chart success makes it even more newsworthy as it’s been achieved by the artist with no major label or major radio backing. This can be attributed purely to the artist's extensive fan following worldwide.

Having toured across countries around the word including America, the UK, Costa Rica, Canada, India and Dubai - Turkey and México are countries that Oliver Sean has yet to tour and now with the "Walk up and Kiss you" single hitting No.1 on the Top 100 and the Devil in Blue Jeans album hitting No.2 on the Rock Album Charts, it looks likely that fans in Turkey and Mexico can expect Oliver Sean to perform or even tour these regions very soon.

Walk up and Kiss you, New York and the Devil in Blue Jeans album by  Oliver Sean are currently available across all iTunes stores worldwide and also streaming on top playlists on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music Unlimited. Find out more about Oliver Sean on www.oliversean.com.

leo irsara

I was born in Brunico (ITA). I’m the second of four children (3 daughters and me). My first musical experience was in a local church choir around the age of 13. I later picked up guitar and became member of various school bands between 14 and 16. I wasn’t able to continue with usic for around 15 years, sice I had to focus on my job in the catering sector. I restarted playing around the age of 32 with a classic rock band named Burnout, which I remained in for 5 years. I then had to stop again for 3 years to focus on my hotel. I restarted again when I hit 40, and in the last yer and a half i’ve worked on my current album.

LEO IRSARA HAS A FLOWER FOR A MOUNTAIN SAILOR
His first English composed debut, A Flower for a Mountain Sailor, is Leo Irsara's latest offering showcasing his unique stylistic mix of American folk and British pop.
"My music seems a little bit between brit pop and American folk songs." - Leo Irsara
Leo Irsara - Album(San Cassiano-Bolzano-Italy) September 7th, 2018 - Leo Irsara is no stranger to music, having been trained in piano and in his church choir in his youth, in Brunico, Italy, his musical foundation was firm. However, it was only recently, that he has had the time to dedicate to his own songwriting and artistry.
He explains, "I restarted playing and songwriter around the age of thirty-two with a classic rock band named Burnout, for about five years." However, by the time he was forty, his first love of music had forced him into the studio to experiment with instruments and sound. It was that experience that gave birth to A Flower for a Mountain Sailor.
In creating his debut album, Leo experimenting in his home studio, as his own engineer, producer, and mixer. He utilized his skills as a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, as he explains, "Over my lifetime I taught myself how to play bass, guitar, and even hones my vocals." His musical influences are varied and come thru in the album, ranging from American and British pop music all the way to American folk songs. To make matters even more complex and difficult for Leo, he decided his debut would be in English, not his native language, obviously.
Flower for a Mountain Sailor is a concept album, which thematically focuses on man versus nature. The collection of songs follows a storyline of the man, having made many mistakes in his life is released and set free of prison. He then begins to travel in seek of peace and serenity - traveling through the clouds, (metaphorically mountains.) Among the tracks on the project, he comes upon a beautiful flower, which symbolizes a woman.
In the end, the album tells a story of each man's chance at redemption, and it does so through Leo Irsara's own musical gift of soundscape and imagery. There's no one track that stands out, all ten tracks are inclusive, intertangled, and must be listened to as to let the let Leo's vivid story unfold. It's one of forgiveness, of grace and of beauty. If you see a Flower for a Mountain Sailor, you should pick one for yourself! The album is available on all digital outlets including iTunesDeezer, and as well on YouTube. Please see more on Leo's Facebook page below.

Arjun Singh Sethi – The Politics of Hate

Re: Alternative Radio: Politics of Hate

There is a stench in the air. Hate is out in the open. The number of hate crimes has dramatically escalated in the last couple of years. Recall Dylann Roof who killed nine in an African-American church in South Carolina or Gregory Bush who murdered two black shoppers in a grocery store in Kentucky. The vitriol is spreading. The Anti-Defamation League reported a 57 percent increase in anti-Semitic incidents in 2017. It’s the largest increase since the ADL began keeping records. In Pittsburgh, a man stormed a synagogue killing 11 in the deadliest attack on Jews in U.S. history. The shooter, Robert Bowers, had ventilated his hatred on Gab, a social network platform for racists, white nationalists and neo-Nazis. Extremist groups are using technology at a time when a growing culture of hate is taking root, both online and off.

Arjun Singh Sethi is a community activist, civil rights lawyer and law professor based in Washington, DC. He works closely with Muslim, Arab, South Asian, and Sikh communities and advocates for racial justice, equity, and social change. His articles appear in The GuardianPoliticoUSA Today, and the Washington Post. He holds faculty appointments at Georgetown University Law Center and Vanderbilt University Law School. He is the editor of American Hate: Survivors Speak Out. The book was nominated by NPR as a 2018 Great Read.
